OUR COMMUNITY OF AGENTS
Originally from Denver, Parnell’s family started vacationing in Grand County in the early 1970s. Up for a Christmas vacation in 1979 — or so the kids thought — on Christmas morning, Parnell's parents asked them if they liked the house they were staying in. The four of them said “yes,” and the next thing Parnell knew, the moving truck pulled into the driveway. They were home!
Parnell attended Middle Park High School and wasn’t far from home when he went to college in Durango. But shortly after graduation, he headed to Japan. After a year there, he returned to Fraser and started working with his dad at his dad's real estate office.
In 1994, Parnell strapped on his backpack once again, this time heading to Australia. He got word that his older brother was getting married, so Parnell came back for the wedding. Driving over the pass and seeing the Fraser Valley, he knew he was home — this time for good.
Parnell jokes, “When we were kids, we used to say that the Fraser Valley was like the song Hotel California. ‘You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.'”
Parnell has raised his three children here in Fraser Valley. He chose to get involved with the Fraser town government because after living here for all but 10 years of his life, he felt a calling to help guide the community’s future so that his children — and their children — will continue to call Fraser their home.
Megan is originally from Northern Minnesota. She moved to Winter Park after graduating from college, having attended the College of Saint Benedict and St. John’s University and graduating with a degree in Business Administration. After initially moving up to Winter Park to work as a real estate assistant to Parnell, Megan finally made the move to the big city of Denver. She worked as a Technical Engineer for a software development company called Digitech Systems, as well as as a Personal Shopping Assistant at Best Buy. Her time with Digitech and Best Buy lasted a little less than a year, as Megan was destined for Winter Park. In addition to working in real estate, Megan has also worked in a few restaurants in the Valley. She's had the opportunity to manage the Tabernash Tavern and Club Car restaurant at the base of Mary Jane at Winter Park Ski Resort, all while achieving her goals of being a small business owner and full-time Realtor. Megan enjoys all aspects of real estate; she specializes in research, contracts, office administration, and business management.
Marc was “all corporate” before moving from the Denver Tech Center area of Denver to Grand County. The reasons for the move were many; he says, "There’s no 9-5 mentality here; traffic and commuting isn't a problem, and everything is just…simpler!"
After growing up in the mountains, everywhere else felt dull and monotonous to him. "Around here, there’s something to do every day and every weekend, all year round. " The temptation to return was just too much for him. "When I need to be alone for peace and solitude, there’s that, too!" He says, “Grand County is one of a kind, the locals are one of a kind, and I'm proud to be a part of such an amazing community.”
Jared was raised in Boulder and completed all his schooling here. He now owns a bookkeeping company with his mother and works in real estate. Other than helping people with finances and real estate, he spends all his free time with his wife and playing with his two young boys in the Rocky Mountains.
Brett Taylor is a transplant native to Colorado. After being born in New York, her family moved here when she was very little. She grew up in Denver, but moved to Grand County in 2013. After a brief stint away from the mountains, she decided to move back. She enjoys golfing, snowboarding, hiking, and spending time with family and friends experiencing all Colorado has to offer. She started working for The Simple Life in the summer of 2022, and has been doing in house marketing ever since!
Evan is another Midwest transplant here in the Fraser valley. He grew up in Northern Illinois, but has bounced around from one adventure to the next. Before settling in here in Fraser, Evan worked as a program manager in Seattle, Washington, where he was able to travel the country while employed, conducting professional development seminars for educators.
Keeping busy in all months of the year, you might find Evan on the slopes of Winter Park Resort, sampling the local cuisine at many of our fine restaurants, and, of course, hiking our many wonderful trails.
Shari grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois just across the river from St. Louis, Missouri. She attended Southern Illinois University and studied political science and history. After vacationing in Colorado, she fell in love with the beauty and the people of Fraser Valley; she relocated shortly thereafter.
She loves cross-country skiing, hiking, and golfing at Pole Creek Golf Course (she’s a Pole Creek Snob). As a part of THE SIMPLE LIFE’s back-end administrative operation, she enjoys assisting clients with their real estate journey.
Anne moved to Colorado from Michigan to attend CSU. She received her MBA from CU and has worked for global technology companies in various marketing leadership roles.
She met THE SIMPLE LIFE’s Parnell when he sold her a townhome in the 90s. At THE SIMPLE LIFE, she executes marketing programs that help clients meet their investment goals.
Anne is a board member of the Middle Park Health Foundation and volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre. She enjoys skiing with the Rocky Mountain Masters racing program and loves sailing on Lake Granby.

We rented a home from Megan and Parnell and had an excellent experience! The house was exactly as described with a beautiful remodel and in a great location. Megan was our main point of contact and she was incredible - great communication, very quick to respond and friendly, and everything was just low stress and easy. We would absolutely work with you again. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
My husband and I purchased a one and a quarter acre property with 3 small houses on it with the help of THE SIMPLE LIFE Real Estate Company. They were there for us every single time we had a question or concern. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the area - Parnell has been here his whole life and Megan is a whiz with all the details of the closing documents. I can't say enough about how satisfied we are with our purchase and the invaluable help they gave us.
